My journey in art started very early in my life. I was ecstatic when I drew my first duck at the age of nine years and that wonderful journey has continued all my life.
I passed two painting examinations in school and that became my basis for building on my painting skills
This journey continued somewhat in my MBBS days and internship. But it stopped abruptly altogether when I joined the extremely intense post-graduate course in General Medicine in Pune. And then life just happened as it has a tendency to and I got engulfed in it. All my talent lay buried deep inside my subconscious and it resurfaced when I moved back to Bangalore from abroad. I was fortunate to find a private class nearby that taught me different techniques of painting including oil, palette, and knife painting. I also did a lot of landscape paintings in live workshops and enjoyed it immensely.
I studied Renaissant European masters and I was fascinated by the Dutch painter, Vincent Von Gaugh’s impressionistic style and incorporated that into some of my works
I have also painted some theme paintings on musical instruments and a series of Indian women. I conducted a painting exhibition in a gallery in Bangalore. It was a success and I sold a few paintings and donated the money I received to a cancer institute. Some of my paintings have reached foreign shores. I learned portrait sketching on my own during the Covid period. I used photos of different celebrities to sketch.
Art has become a way of life and a live meditation for me. I don’t see myself separate from my art. It is my passion beyond rheumatology. I am grateful that I have this gift with me and I feel humbled and grateful that the universe chose me for this blessing. Art will continue to fascinate me forever and my journey in art will continue to strive to be more creative in my artistic expression.
