Dear Readers,

We are extremely delighted to present you with the October issue of the IRA eNewsletter. The theme for this quarter is “LUPUS”

We have four contributions from experts in the field on the theme of lupus. Dr. Kavitha Krishna has beautifully narrated about the significant milestones in the history of lupus. Dr. Ranjan Gupta simplified the concepts of lupus immunopathogenesis. Dr. Molly has provided a succinct summary of the causes and management of difficult-to-treat lupus nephritis. Dr. Phani gave a quick overview of the emerging lupus treatment options.

We know that Lupus patients face a variety of obstacles due to the multifaceted nature of the condition. We have interviewed two imminent rheumatologists for this edition. Professor Laurent Arnaud provided solutions to the challenges that lupus patients face globally concerning access and care. Professor Liza Rajasekhar explained the difficulties faced by Indian patients and offered suggestions for overcoming them.

In our young rheumatologist corner, Dr. Kunal offers advice on how to use social media for your career growth. You can also update yourself with this quarter’s significant academic papers by Dr. Sreejitha on basics, Dr. Kavya on clinical science, and Dr. Anjani on Paediatric rheumatology.

Following that, you can ask yourself a guess on the diagnosis by looking at our image section by Drs. Saranya and Sai. Dr. Amirtha Gopalan has created a brainstorming lupus lexicon, a crossword that will fire your synapses even more.

Lastly, check out the creative side of our rheumatologists, Dr. Anupama Swamy and Dr Gangaratna in the Life Beyond section.

I sincerely thank all the contributors for their dedication and efforts. I also extend my gratitude to the editorial board for giving me this opportunity to contribute to this issue.

Happy reading
